Phoenix Chamber at The Colonial Theatre

November 17, 2026

We are delighted to welcome you to the second concert of Phoenix Chamber’s inaugural season, Beethoven & Beyond: A Bicentennial Celebration.

This evening brings together mezzo-soprano Natasha Nelson and pianists Ian Moschenross and Nhi Huynh for a program exploring the expressive power of the human voice and the rich colors of the piano.

The first half moves through song in many different worlds—from Kurt Weill’s haunting Youkali and Jerome Kern’s beloved All the Things You Are to the intimate lyricism of Alma Mahler, the concentrated expression of Anton Webern, and Lori Laitman’s evocative Orange Afternoon Lover.

The second half brings two pianists together at one instrument, with Beethoven’s spirited Sonata in D Major Op. 6, Schubert’s extraordinary Fantasy in F Minor D.940, and Joe Hisaishi’s enchanting Merry-Go-Round of Life from Howl’s Moving Castle.
